Jeff is a seasoned financial professional with a robust background in trading, wealth management, and education. Since the inception of Bena Capital, Jeff has played a pivotal role in its development, offering invaluable guidance to founder Andre Laborde’s vision of structuring a successful and accessible investment vehicle.
With a career spanning multiple market cycles, Jeff’s experience is as diverse as it is comprehensive. His guiding principle is to put clients first while challenging the status quo. Jeff’s formative years were with Drexel Burnham Lambert as a member of the high-yield bond advisory team. There, he played a crucial role in creating new markets and applications for high bonds, ultimately becoming a specialist in convertible bonds. He further honed his skills as a market maker on the trading floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, where he capitalized on market inequities others had not discovered, winning a U.S. National Investment Challenge as a result.
Jeff’s expertise expanded into retail, institutional, and discount brokerage, encompassing fixed income, equity, and derivatives. He achieved the highest honors at two international firms, emerging as a top 1% performer – the only individual to date to attain this prestigious recognition in his market. He has also gained valuable insights into the banking side of investments, managing substantial portfolios and providing market awareness to clients through published monthly commentary.
Jeff holds a B.A. in Economics from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has pursued studies at other institutions from Vanderbilt University, Cambridge University, and St. John’s College. His dedication to education extended to teaching investments to MBA candidates at Tulane University as part of his doctoral pursuits in finance.
